Nature Around San Francisco
People say San Francisco is good for young people who enjoy night life. But do you know San Francisco and the surrounding area also have the most charming nature areas? Here are a few I really love
1. You are never really far from open space because San Francisco is surrounded by miles of waterfront. At one time my commute was a bike ride along the waterfront route. It was such a blessed commute because everyday I am greeted by the blue sky and the sea view. Sometimes I had stumbled into some sight like an annual herring run which attracts a large flock of birds and fishermen.
2. San Francisco has some of the best urban parks like Golden Gate park and the Presidio. I live two blocks from the Golden Gate park and it is practically my backyard where I go a few times a week. There are so many activities in the park. Sometimes you really need to slow down and appreciate the place surrounded by tall trees. How special it is.
3. Golden Gate National Recreation Area is a collection of parks around San Francisco, including some famous tourist attractions like the Alcatraz and Muir Woods. There are so many spectacular sceneries to see. It is one of the most visited parks in the National Park system. Many parts are actually right in San Francisco or adjacent to it.
4. Point Reyes, my most favorite park just one hour drive from San Francisco. A wilderness area that is so close to the city but feels a world away.
Whether it is part of my urban routine or a short trip away, San Francisco is truly blessed with beautiful nature. It is one of the biggest reasons I love this city.
